A 62-year-old man from Attard was today accused of attacking and injuring his wife with a knife, in a domestic incident which happened in front of their three children.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri upheld a request by the defence to ban the publication of the man’s name, on the basis that he is a public figure and in order to protect his three children, who are all minors.

A ban was also placed on the publication of the victim’s name.

The man denied all the charges, which include grievously injuring his wife with a weapon, and threatening her in front of their three children.

A request for bail by defence lawyer Shaheryar Ghaznavi and Charlon Gouder was turned down, after the prosecution objected seeing that the man may speak to his three children, who are expected to testify in the case.

He was remanded in custody. Inspector Christabelle Chetcuti prosecuted.
