Don’t panic: Delimara power station emergency sirens to be tested tomorrow

Monday, 31 August 2015, 11:35 Last update: about 10 years ago

Enemalta plc will be testing the emergency alarms at the Delimara Power Station on Tuesday 1st September 2015.

The alarms will be sounded for 20 seconds at 0900hrs, as part of a procedure carried out every year to test the Company’s readiness for emergency situations at this power station.

Enemalta plc keeps individuals who live or work close to the power station informed about the actions they would need to take in case of major accidents. The sounding of the emergency alarms is one of the safety measures used to alert these communities in such situations.

The Company also liaises with several national entities and authorities to keep them regularly updated with all developments that may affect their response and support in case of emergency.  These emergency preparedness and response procedures are planned and implemented in adherence to the applicable legislation, including the Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) Regulations.
