The Federation for Hunting and Conservation – Malta (FKNK) is offering €2,000 for information leading to the hunter who reportedly killed a white stork.

The FKNK was referring to a BirdLife Malta spokesperson report of earlier today concerning the alleged killing of a White Stork in Gozo, in the area between Għarb and San Lawrenz.

From information obtained by the FKNK, the Storks that visited Gozo, and were monitored, amongst others, by FKNK members, encountered no hindrance on their route.  Consequently, the FKNK is requesting that the report, that a Stork was killed in Gozo, be either substantiated by facts, or otherwise retracted.

Notwithstanding, and in the eventuality that the report was truthful, the FKNK cannot find harsh enough words to qualify its condemnation of such a criminal act.  Furthermore, and in another effort to continue to be on the forefront to exterminate any form of illegality, the FKNK is offering a reward of €2,000 to that person who can provide concrete information and evidence that will lead to the arraignment and conviction of the person who carried out the illegal act.

Simultaneously, the FKNK called on the Police Corps to investigate the report with all its means at its disposal, in order to apprehend the culprit, if the case results to be factual, but to locate the person who lodged the report with BirdLife Malta and take the necessary legal steps against him if the report results to be false.
