Italian Eurovision Song Contest contender, Francesca Michielin, has sent a video message to St Benedict’s College in Kirkop after teacher of Italian, Jonathan Grech, sent the singer a message via Twitter.

In his message, Mr Grech told Michielin that her songs were used in class to help students learn Italian and asked her to send a message to his students. Ms Michielin went beyond the students’ expectations, surprising them with a video message in which she also spoke about Malta’s own participant in the contest Ira Losco.

The Italian singer told the students that she is happy that they use her songs in the classroom and had words of praise for Ira Losco. “She has always been kind and sweet to me,” Ms Michielin said adding that Ira takes care of her like a younger sister.

Francesca Michielin, 21, rose to fame after winning the Italian X-Factor contest. She has won a number of awards and is currently pending nomination for the prestigious ‘Best Italian Female’ award at the MTV Italian Music Awards to be held later on this year.
