Popular DJ dies in three-car collision in Cospicua

A man from Vittoriosa, Manuel Micallef, known as DJ Lito, died this evening in a traffic accident involving three cars in Dom Mintoff Road, Cospicua, the police said.

The accident happened at 6.50pm, with a Toyoto Ago driven by Manuel Micallef, a 47-year-old of Vittoriosa, a Ford Fusion driven by a 53-year-old man who had a 58-year-old woman passenger with him, both of Marsa, and a Toyoto Vitz driven by a 41-year-old of Marsascala were involved in a crash.

Manuel Micallef was certified dead on site, the police said, while the passenger in the Ford was taken to hospital for treatment.

A magisterial inquiry has been launched.

Last October, Manuel Micallef had been fired by the PN's media organisation for insensitive comments made after the Paqpaqli ghall-Istrina accident.
