The police force is still investigating all possible avenues when it comes to the recent car bomb which severed a man’s leg last Monday.

Three men had suffered injuries after the explosion in a van in Marsa. The accident occurred at around 6:15pm, when an explosion took place inside a Ford Transit van on Aldo Moro Road, causing it to crash into an electricity pole

The interior of the van was completely destroyed and the windows of an Opel Zafira that was driving by shattered, injuring the driver - a 37-year-old man from Zabbar. 

The men inside the Ford were a 35-year-old from Qormi and a 45-year-old from Naxxar.

Reports said that the explosive device shot shrapnel across the cabin of the  Ford Transit van. The bomb was allegedly strapped under the driver’s side of the van.

Asked by The Malta Independent whether the police believe this bombing was linked to the Marsascala bombing last January, where Martin Cachia, 55, from Marsascala was killed while driving on the Marsascala bypass, or any other recent bombing incident, the police said the following: “Kindly note that a Magisterial Inquiry is still ongoing, hence it is not prudent to comment at this stage, however the Police are investigating all possible avenues”.
