The ‘most beautiful’ €53m road flooded with water again

Thursday, 3 November 2016, 09:26 Last update: about 8 years ago

The Coast Road, described by Transport Malta as the most beautiful road in the country, was again flooded with water in parts of it this morning, drivers told The Malta Independent.

The €53 million project was opened by the Labour government with much fanfare, but it is not the first time that sections of the road end up collecting rain water, slowing down traffic.

The project had been billed as having been one which was built in such a way to eliminate flooding caused by rain water.

But part of the road close to Maghtab was flooded after the early morning rain, with drivers sending in these pictures. One of them has termed it "Lake Maghtab".

It is not the first time this has happened. In December, the road had been flooded with Transport Malta saying that the cause was a faulty storm water system at Telgha t'Alla w'Ommu.
