The traditional post-Christmas sales started today, with many establishments slashing their prices by 50% or more.

The sales are an opportunity not only for purchasing belated Christmas gifts but also for snatching a bargain on clothes, electronics, houseware and other items. Activity is particularly high in Valletta, Sliema, Mosta, Hamrun and other areas with a large concentration of shops.

Many Maltese also travel to European countries, most notably the UK, to make the best of the discounts there.
