Wednesday, 28 December 2016, 10:07 Last update: about 8 years ago

A horse was found decapitated on one of the roads close to the Marsa horse racing track.

Police are on site and so are animal welfare officials, police officials told this newsroom.

Investigations are ongoing.

Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Roderick Galdes has condemned the act, and said that the incident was reported to the Animal Welfare Directorate by the police, who immediately began working with the government veterenary office and the police forensics unit. “While there was no micro-chip in the horse, the animal registry system is also being used”.

”The secretariat gave clear instructions to government officials to make every effort to cooperate with the police investigation so that whoever committed this act will be brought to justice as quickly as possible. Whoever has any information regarding his case should pass it on, even anonimously, to the Animal Welfare Directorate by calling 1717."
