Monday, 10 April 2017, 15:08 Last update: about 8 years ago

Today, 11 April the Naxxar Parish Church will be hosting its annual Evening of Music and Spiritual Reflections on Passiontide with the participation of the Jubilate Deo Choir together with the Cappella Gregoriana under the direction of Christopher Muscat, accompanied by organist Ronald Camilleri. During this event the choir will be singing sacred compositions by and Muscat as well as two new compositions by Josef Bugeja. Rev. Kevin Schembri will be making short spiritual reflections inspired from the compositions being performed.

Throughout its 43-year history, the Jubilate Deo Choir has established itself as one of Malta's foremost choirs in the field of sacred music with such milestone performances as the first Maltese performance of Camille Saint-Saens' Oratorio di Natale in 2005, the revival of Paolino Vassallo's Messa da Requiem and Charles Camilleri's opera Il-Wegħda in 2006. Moreover, the choir has also obtained prestigious results during the international choir competition Musica Sacra a Roma in 2013. Earlier this year, the choir gave the first performance of Christopher Muscat's Cantata L-X ta' Frar 1928 and Marco Frisina's Oratorio Fino ai Confini della Terra alongside the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Monsignor Frisina himself.

The spiritual event starts at 7.30pm. Entrance is free and patrons are requested to be seated by 7.15pm.
