Air Malta registers 14% growth over Easter

Friday, 28 April 2017, 16:51 Last update: about 8 years ago

Air Malta has registered an impressive 14% increase this Easter when compared with Easter last year, the airline said in a statement.

The Easter weekend has been deemed a huge success by the airline as it operated 22 flights more than last year and carried an additional 3,000 passengers achieving an average load factor of over 90%.

“We were confident that our changing business model and commercial improvements will deliver better results. We are very happy we managed to achieve such a strong performance. Our competitive fares, better distribution coupled with the fact that we operate the most convenient flight schedule and fly to main city airports significantly contributed to the record in the number of passengers carried. This clearly shows that we are on the right track and can compete in a cutthroat environment by offering the best value for money,’’ said Mr Paul Sies, Chief Commercial Officer.

On Easter Sunday and Monday, Air Malta surprised passengers travelling on selected flights in and out of Malta with a complimentary hot chocolate for Easter. This small token was relished by our guests on board.

“Air Malta is committed to continue building on this success and preliminary results show that we can achieve double digit passenger growth this April and May. We have just announced the launch of two new scheduled services to Tunis and to Tel Aviv with which we hope to tap into new markets while offering more connectivity options to the Middle East and North Africa. We intend to continue working to increase our passengers and continue registering more growth to the benefit of the Maltese islands, its booming hotel industry, our employees and the airline,“ added Mr Sies.
