A 20-year-old Italian national was sentenced to 16-months in prison suspended for two years after he admitted to charges of theft.
The theft occurred on Monday at around 2:30am from Numero Uno in Ta’ Qali. The court heard how Bruno Valeriani, who is in Malta on holiday, stole a golden necklace.
The man appeared before magistrate Doreen Clarke and admitted to the charges of theft against Ismael Sciriha. He also admitted to the charges of breaching public peace.
The defence, representing the accused, handed €600 to the prosecution, which is the value of the object stolen.
Police inspector Elliott Magro led the prosecution, while lawyer Stefano Filletti appeared for the accused.
