A 44-year-old man from Floriana has been charged with stalking, violently attacking and raping a woman who wanted to break off her relationship with him.

The man, the court was told, did not want to end the affair. Both parties were in relationships with other persons at the time. Inspectors John Spiteri and Jeffrey Scicluna said that the police found videos which showed the woman telling the man to stop while she was crying.

The victim had told inspectors that she didn't know she was being filmed. The accused was denied bail.

In a separate case, the aforementioned Floriana man's partner was given a six-month suspended sentence for two years after threatening to share the footage once discovering the secret relationship. She had been in a relationship with the Floriana man for years, and even moved to Malta to start a family with him.  She was ordered to return home to Macedonia.
