The Office of the Prime Minister this afternoon denied a report appearing in a foreign website that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was taken ill and is in a New York Hospital.

The OPM did not indicate the website involved, simply saying that its report is false.

Earlier, OPM chief of communications Kurt Farrugia posted on Twitter that the report is fake news.

Muscat is in New York to attend the UN general assembly.
