A police sergeant is suffering from grievous injuries after he was attacked this morning by a man in St Julians who did not comply with his orders.

In a statement, police said that at 1am, they were called to an entertainment establishment in Triq San Gorg where a foreigner was acting in a hostile manner to other people within the establishment.

The man did not obey orders by the police and punched the sergeant.

The man was arrested and taken to the St Julian's police station.

The police sergeant was taken to Mater Dei.
