The court has sentenced a French national to two years probation for his involvement in a violent altercation in Paceville, with the magistrate presiding over the case highlighting the dangers of excessive consumption of alcohol.

“It is not fair on parents who allow their children to enjoy Paceville only to be informed that their child has been,” the magistrate explained.

The incident took place on 2 August 2018 at 3:30 am on St Rita street, the infamous steps entering Paceville in St Julian’s.

Yanis Meherzi, who was found to be under the significant influence of alcohol, struck Anthony Zammit with a broken glass bottle.

Meherzi was found to have committed a grievous injury due to his intent to injure Zammit.
