Louis Galea says he has not been approached about possible PN caretaker leader role

Wednesday, 7 November 2018, 18:12 Last update: about 6 years ago

PN stalwart and former Minister Louis Galea has categorically denied being approached by anyone from ‘the rank and file’ of the party with reference to a MaltaToday story that he is being eyed by some MPs as a caretaker leader after the 2019 elections.

Delia has come under fire, with rumours suggesting a possible exit, as he is currently going through a difficult personal issue. His wife, Nickie Vella de Fremeaux, has filed for separation.

The Malta Independent today quoted a PN MP saying that Adrian Delia is now “more determined than ever” to remain as Nationalist Party leader.

In his statement, Galea quoted this story by this newsroom and said: “First, I sincerely wish Adrian Delia the best resolution possible of any difficulties he and his family may be experiencing.”

“Second, I want to declare categorically that I have not been at any time approached by anybody from the rank and file of the party with reference to what is being reported. Nor did I approach anyone. My interest is only one: that the PN may overcome the present difficulties, regroup in a unified political force, and continue to give its best to further the common good and interests of the Maltese people.”
