Tens of PL activists comprising of candidates, volunteers and officials came together on Saturday and conducted a clean up day in seven localities around the Maltese islands, the PL said in a statement.

The PL said that while local councils conduct important work to keep localities clean, there are situations where some people do not take care of the environment.

The PL wanted to send a message in favour of the environment and the need to instil a civic sense. "A clean environment depends on all of us as citizens."

The localities which took part are Birżebbuġa, Floriana, Qormi, Mellieħa, Mosta, Munxar and Pembroke.
