Labour Party has lost its social conscience, Adrian Delia says

Saturday, 4 May 2019, 09:03 Last update: about 6 years ago

The Labour Party, supposedly built on socialist values, has lost is social conscience and has forgotten the workers, Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia said in Sliema on Friday.

Statistics show that Maltese workers were the worst off in Europe in terms of wage increases, and 72,000 people are at risk of poverty.

The socialist government is expanding the economy by increasing the population, instead of via an increase in production, and 64% of Maltese workers are earning less, Delia said.

Malta has the second highest rate of early school leavers and some students are getting their lessons in containers, he added.

Shamelessly, the government says that the rule of law exists when it is known that it has hijacked Malta’s institutions and changed the police commissioner five times. European reports, including those of the Venice Commission, have shown that all the power lies in the hands of the prime minister, who continues to appoint magistrates and judges to get a hold on the judiciary.

When PM Joseph Muscat says that the battle in the 25 May election is between the two political leaders it shows that he has little confidence in the capabilities of the Labour Party candidates, Delia said.
