New dog park inaugurated in Żabbar

Sunday, 12 May 2019, 18:13 Last update: about 6 years ago

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg, Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government and Communities Silvio Parnis, and Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Clint Camilleri inaugurated a new dog park in Żabbar together with mayor Marc Vella Bonnici and councillors, a project which also complements the comprehensive work being done by the Government to create a recreational area in a safe and beautiful environment out of the Żabbar ditch while giving a breath of fresh air to families in the area.

Also present for the event were Minister for European Affairs and Equality Helena Dalli, Minister for Energy and Water Management Joe Mizzi, and Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and the Property Market Chris Agius.

“This has been a week where we saw a considerable amount of open space projects being implemented or announced. And therefore once again we are seeing how this Government is committed to deliver projects that bring a number of benefits to our communities. This would not have been possible if our country was not experiencing the economic success that it is registering, success which this government is passing on to the people through the various projects and initiatives it is implementing,” said Minister Ian Borg while he was inaugurating a new dog park in Żabbar.

Minister  Borg made reference to the announcement made together with the Prime Minister about the Malta National Park in Ta’ Qali, which will take up 450,000 square metres, and which will bring a lot of benefits to the people. However, said the Minister, this does not mean that small projects do not give us the same satisfaction; to the contrary, as long as people benefit, both large and small projects are relevant.

Minister Borg explained that the Council invested €80,000 in this dog park, which will benefit Żabbar residents and those living in the area, most especially the dogs of these residents.
