Updated (4): Swimmer dies at St Peter's Pool, body identified

A man has died after swimming incident in St Peter’s Pool, in the limits of Delimara, this afternoon.

The police confirmed that a report was received at 4.15pm that the man had experienced difficulties while swimming in the area.

He was given first assistance by other bathers, who carried him to the shore, but he was pronounced dead by paramedics.

The police on Monday said that the man was identified as a 68-year-old Zejtun resident.

Police have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the incident.

Magistrate Joe Mifsud is leading an inquiry.

It is the second such incident of the day.
