Former Minister Konrad Mizzi this afternoon took a dig at migrants saying that they should learn to respect the Maltese, “those who feed you”.
Mizzi, who resigned in November, said in a post on Facebook that migrants must learn to show respect to “people who saved your life”.
The post was uploaded hours after a fire at the Marsa migrant open centre, which led to the arrest of 20 migrants, and the arraignment of another 22 migrants following an uprising in Safi on Monday.
“You fled your country. We saved you from drowning. We gave you shelter in our home. We dressed you, fed you. But now learn to respect us,” he wrote.
The post drew hundreds of reactions on the social media, with some praising the minister for his stand and others remarking that the minister was given a public from which he resigned in disgrace.
