Hotter than thought: Temperatures to rise to a sizzling 40 degrees Celsius in first week of summer

The Met Office is expecting feel like temperaturues to rise to a sizzling 40 degrees Celsius this week.

The summer season officially starts Monday when temperatures are set to rise by two degrees from Sunday's 34 (feel like 36) to 36 (feel like 38).

But it will not be over, as on Tuesday and Wednesday the temperature is forecast to increase by one degree to 37 (feel like 39), and go further up to 38 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (feel like 40)

It will be "hot and sunny" on all days this coming week, with winds predominantly from the south (Sahara).

People are advised to wear light clothes, avoid being in the sun during peak hours and to drink lots of water.
