Dr Mifsud stood for re-election to the executive committee of Europe’s governing football body at the Uefa Congress in Limassol, Cyprus. He has occupied a seat on the committee for the past 10 years.
In a comment to The Malta Independent from Limassol, Dr Mifsud said it was of considerable personal satisfaction for him to have been re-elected.
He polled a highly respectable 33 votes from a possible 52, even though he was elected after Luxembourg’s Henri Roemer left the committee to become special adviser to the Uefa president and chief executive on European Union and global affairs.
