A 41-year-old man has been arrested following intensive police investigations into a series of thefts from parked vehicles, the police said Thursday.

The thefts occurred between October 2 and October 14, 2026, involving seven reported incidents from vehicles in Pietà and three additional cases in Ħamrun.

Investigators managed to identify the alleged thief, prompting police to set up targeted surveillance in the areas he was known to frequent.

The operation proved successful, with officers arresting the suspect earlier this morning in Pietà.

The man is currently being held at the Police Lock-up in Floriana for further questioning. He is expected to be arraigned in court today at around 12:45 PM before Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici.
