Men Fined for shooting and killing protected birds

The man, Clifton Vella, 19, admitted he had entered the reserve to kill the spoonbills that were there. His hunting licence was also suspended for a year.

Another man, Joe Vella, 41, succeeded in killing one of these protected birds and was fined Lm100 after being found in possession of a spoonbill carcass.

The dead bird was confiscated.

The court was presided over by magistrate Anthony Vella and inspector Alex Miruzzi prosecuted.
