18 Months in prison for robbing five clubs

Joseph Sammut, 20 from Ta’ Giorni, committed these thefts between January and April 2000. The bocci clubs were in Birgu and Zejtun while the football clubs were in Burmarrad, Gharghur and Pietà. He also caused damage to these premises as he committed the thefts.

The man was also guilty of relapsing in view of previous convictions.

The court was presided over by Magistrate Joseph Cassar. Inspector Carmelo Magri prosecuted while Dr Ian Farrugia appeared for the accused.
