In addition to the CPD, the Saint John’s Ambulance and St John’s Rescue Corps also took part in the activities.

Firefighters first tackled a firewall, which is a metal structure with fuel pumped through and set ablaze. The firefighters formed a walking wall and put the blaze out.

Next, a traffic accident was simulated. A car was placed on its side with two “casualties” inside. The fire brigade pulled up to the car and cut the casualties out of the wreckage. One was rushed to hospital in a St John’s ambulance while the other was airlifted out for treatment.

St John’s Rescue Corps then abseiled down the abseiling tower to round off the morning’s activities. Visitors were also given a tour of the CPD’s vehicles.

Interior Minister Tonio Borg and parliamentary secretary Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici attended the event.

Activities continue this morning and tomorrow.
