Insite’s Grip on Europe

Malta Independent Tuesday, 25 May 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

In the past year, Insite’s International Commission has worked very hard to set up links with many student media organisations abroad, and one of these links has led to Insite becoming a founding member of a European network of student newspapers.

Insite has also been invited to attend the Enlargement of Young Minds Forum in Finland in August, which is a meeting of representatives and editors-in-chief of European student newspapers from nearly 40 countries.

The ultimate goal of the forum will be to innovate methods for wider cooperation and interaction between student newspapers.

Among others, the forum is supported by the European Cultural Foundation and Finland’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.

A major step on the way to Insite’s involvement in Europe is the publication of the bulletin Grip on Europe, in which Malta was featured in an article written by Insite’s international coordinator Lysanne Bakker.

The bulletin celebrates the 50th anniversary of the European Cultural Foundation and also includes articles on Switzerland, Finland, the United Kingdom, Slovakia and the enlargement of the European Union.

Insite believes that the student newspaper is the voice for every student, to be heard not only in Malta but also abroad.
