In a letter to PBS chief executive Andrew Psaila, the party said yesterday’s broadcast of the Labour Party conference, in all news bulletins, was biased. The journalist reading the report repeated the MLP slogans and the cue sheet ended with an appeal for people to vote for “Alfred Sant’s party”, along with the announcement of an MLP mass meeting, claimed the PN.
The party went on to say that this report shows the channel is wholly collaborating with the MLP. PBS is assisting the Labour Party by creating the charged atmosphere of a general election and only portraying the negative, the PN said.
The PN claimed the MLP’s main aim is to breed uncertainty, since it is detrimental to the island. The opposition is overcome by panic which is evident from the aggressive language used by MLP leader Alfred Sant, the PN continued.
The PN said the reports on which it has voiced its concern show that PBS is supporting the MLP’s partisan campaign. The PN concluded that PBS has abdicated its journalistic responsibilities.
