In his claim, Saviour Bonnici said that he started working for the Telemalta Corporation, the predecessor of Maltacom plc, in 1970. In 1976, Mr Bonnici was promoted to supervisor and in 1980 was given another promotion.

In May 1987, Mr Bonnici was transferred and was not allowed to work overtime. Moreover, Mr Bonnici applied for and attended an interview for a promotion to technical officer, but the promotion was given to someone who had less experience.

In his judgement, Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco said that Mr Bonnici’s claims were justified and recommended a compensation of Lm1,000.
