“While Malta Enterprise has a crucial role in assisting the country’s economic development, it is the duty of this organisation, as well as of all government departments, to assist Maltese investors with the same dedication and commitment as they are planning to treat foreign investors. Both Maltese and foreign investors are important for Malta’s economic development. Therefore both should be treated in same way.

“It is said that potential resident Maltese investors are being treated as second-class investors in their own country, particularly in regard to dealing with excessive bureaucracy. What the country needs is a healthy and regular stream of productive investment to create jobs and wealth. Where these funds come from is irrelevant as long as their source is legitimate”.

Alternattiva Demokratika’s candidate for the European election Arnold Cassola said that together with the European Greens he would work in the European Parliament to promote the creation of more environmentally friendly jobs. “I cannot promise creating jobs myself as this is not the competence of a member of the European Parliament. What members of the European Parliament can offer is contribution to a European policy promoting job creation. I can also offer to circulate all available information to Maltese entrepreneurs to benefit from European programmes and funds. Malta should also focus on creating jobs in the environmental sector. Within the parameters of a National Industrial Policy, Malta Enterprise can work on the establishment of a ‘Green Technology Park’ within Malta”, Prof. Cassola concluded.
