The aim of the programme is to bring together young people from various European countries to share culture through such things as interactive games, role-plays and communal meals.

Preparations for the visit began last November on the initiative of the school’s Scoops project manager Maryrose Meli. Participants who satisfied the Youth Programme criteria were chosen by the Scoops team to form part of the group which has been named ‘The Islanders’. These students will now have the opportunity of staying in the lovely lake-side village of Bocaczewo, near Morag, as well as visiting Copernicus-renowned Olsztyn and other interesting places. They have been preparing for the visit through various cultural and fund-raising activities which have been recorded in a project book recently compiled by the Maltese students for their Polish counterparts with whom they will be sharing this enriching experience. This attractive and colourful presentation also contains general information about the Maltese Islands.Meanwhile, The Islanders’ visit has already received coverage from the Polish press, with a recent article in the weekly newspaper Gazeta Moraská about the preparatory visit by a representative of the group during the celebrations marking Poland’s accession to the European Union.

During their stay, The Islanders will be meeting the mayor of Morag, who is very supportive of the activity.

Student Services and International Relations director Mary Rose Mifsud has given her wholehearted encouragement to the initiative.
