Heritage Malta’s Funds have not been reduced

Malta Independent Friday, 28 May 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The increase of Lm460,000 is explained as follows: the initial approved estimate for Heritage Malta, announced in the budget of 2004, was Lm1,190,000. At the beginning of 2004, Heritage Malta concluded an agreement with the Finance Ministry for the amount of Lm1,190,000 to be reduced to Lm600,000 and, in return, retain all revenues generated by the organisation, estimated at Lm800,000.

This already resulted in a revenue increase of Lm210,000 as well as an incentive to Heritage Malta to retain and enhance its revenue.

The vote in the Consolidated Fund was further increased by another Lm273,000 during the year to bring the total increase to Lm483,000. The only deduction being made by the Tourism and Culture Ministry is of Lm23,000, thus leaving a total funding increase to Heritage Malta of Lm460,000 before taking into consideration the Lm99,000 rent written off in favour of the organisation, plus any potential revenue growth.
