In 1999 Ms Vella, together with two of her advanced students, Martine Mangion and Diane Portelli, had the honour of representing Malta during the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood, from which they returned home with two gold medals.
“After the success of that trip, this is another chance for a different group of talented Maltese dancers to make their mark overseas once again,” said Ms Vella.
“Needless to say, this opportunity is a unique chance for us to compete at an international level and I have chosen eight of my best dancers to perform in this prestigious event, if only we can make it happen,” she continued. The group is currently looking for sponsors to help them turn this dream into a reality.
Anyone who wishes to lend a hand and help the group make the most of this opportunity can contact Ms Vella on 7930-1718.
Tamara Micallef, Nicola Fenech, Krista DeGaetano, Angele Spiteri Paris, Diana Spiteri, Felicity Cassar Torregiani, Sarah Spiteri and Jeanine Rizzo will accompany Ms Vella on this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Ms Vella, one of the finest choreographers in Malta, has been dancing since she was seven years old and has come a long way since then, with a large number of credits to her name.
“Once again, we are appealing to anyone who can help us through sponsorships to make our mark abroad, to contact me. Without help, this will be a wasted window of opportunity for the sphere of Maltese dance,” Ms Vella concluded.
