Mr Von Brockdorff said the idea for this came after the candidates outside the major political parties were almost completely excluded from discussion on the media. He said that he already had the support of candidates Cecil Jones, Damian Ieuweke and Chris Sciberras and negotiations were in hand with Dr Emy Bezzina of the Alpha Liberal Party for a possible merger with Mr Von Brockdorff’s Christian Democratic Republican Party.

Mr Von Brockdorff said the front being created was to be named ‘The United Way Forward’ and the mechanistics of the official launch of this front would be made on Wednesday on television and with the publication of a press release announcing those who were joining it.

Asked by The Malta Independent On Sunday on the possibility of having Norman Lowell’s Imperium Europa in this coalition, Mr Von Brockdorff said he would not even dream of sitting at the same table with Lowell whom he described as a ‘little walking Hitler’, a ‘racist’ and a ‘bigot’. He added that Imperium Europa’s policies harmed the reputation of the country and were contrary to the principles of the Christian Democratic Republican Party.

Mr Von Brockdorff also described briefly his election campaign for the European Parliament based on family and social values, outlining his vision for care centres in every town and village for the socially excluded and disadvantaged. He added that he was planning an intensive radio campaign and that this ‘Rainbow Coalition’ would be making further announcements in the coming days.
