Labour Leader visits GWU press

Malta Independent Tuesday, 1 June 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Dr Sant said this while visiting Union Print, a General Worker’s Union owned printing press. He said he felt nostalgic while touring the press, saying that he had a lot of memories of the organisation when it was located in Valletta, adding that he knew most of the established workers at the press, some of whom go back 40 years in the organisation, he said.

Dr Sant said that over the years the press had given a great contribution towards a leftist journalism in Malta which, he added is in a minority in Malta, which makes the work done by Union Print all the more important.

Speaking about the forthcoming European Parliament elections, Dr Sant said that the party will be working to safeguard workers rights in that face of an attempt to undermine the Maltese social fabric, and a threat to employment.
