Most players opted to make the most of the festive atmosphere and resided at the hotel for the duration bringing family and friends over to join in the fun. Club foundress Angele Andrews was visiting from UK and graced all with her presence meeting old and new members alike.
By the third day, the competitive element really took over as the winner would be determined by the results of the very last three games played on the King-of-the-Hill basis.
Not so surprisingly Nicky Vella Laurenti, Malta’s highest rated player, won the event with 12 wins, followed very closely by Peter Elbourne with 12 wins. Anne Marie Holland and Theresa Camilleri placed third and fourth respectively.
Group B winners were as follows: 1.Alfred Xuereb; 2. Laura Borg; 3.Pauline Cilia; 4. Paul Frendo.
Godfrey Magri Demajo, who sponsored the event, also presented awards to the best achievers David Zammit and Lillian Spiteri and to Paul Frendo for achieving the highest non-bingo score of 84 points with the word SQUIZ.
