The man had managed to get past the hospital’s gate after assaulting two police officers who were trying to calm him. The officers were called to the scene after staff from the hospital reported that a man was creating trouble.

The man, from Mtarfa, claimed that he wanted to leave the hospital against the doctor’s orders.

Once outside the premises, officers from the SAG and district police surrounded the man. This was when he attacked and injured the officer. Duty Magistrate Miriam Hayman was informed about the case. She ordered an inquiry and appointed various experts to help her. The investigation is headed by the Birkirkara district police.
