He was arraigned later in the afternoon, pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him and was sentenced to a Lm200 fine and a personal guarantee not to contact the warden in question for a year. It all started this morning at 10.45 am in St Julian’s, when Darren Decelis, the unfortunate warden, attempted to prevent Galea from entering a road that was closed for traffic due to work that was being carried out.

Galea ignored the warden’s orders and drove through the street. The warden reported the incident to the St Julian’s police. On his way out of the station, still within metres distance from the police station, he met Galea again who started insulting the warden and then attacked him.

Officers in the station heard the argument and rushed outside to find the warden on the floor with light injuries in the face. Galea was arrested on the spot. Later in the afternoon he was arraigned in court, and accused by prosecuting Inspector Mario Tonna, among other things, of insulting, threatening and attacking Darren Decelis, inflicting light injuries to his face and for defying his legitimate order as well as breaching public peace. Galea pleaded guilty and was

sentenced by Magistrate J. Cassar to pay a Lm 200 fine and to a personal guarantee of one year not to make contact with the warden for one year.
