The winners in each category will be announced during the Awards ceremony on Friday 25 June. In addition there will be an overall winner chosen collectively by the judging panel.
For the first time there will be a Special Commendation for the website that incorporates the best accessibility features for people with special needs.
The site will be chosen by the Foundation for Information Technology Accessibility (FITA).
The commendation was introduced in order to encourage website developers to include accessibility features as part of the design and the development of the website.
There is also another category, the People’s Choice Award, where everyone can vote, through an SMS, for the preferred website among the finalists. Details are available on the DataStream Malta Web Awards web site http://www.maltawebawards.com
577 websites have been submitted for this year’s DataStream Malta Web Awards. The interest shown in this competition confirms the progress registered by Malta not only in terms of the general approach to and take-up of information technology but also in the core areas of technical know-how, development and creativity in the digital multimedia ICT sector.
