Robert Micallef’s Response to allegations of debt

Malta Independent Friday, 18 June 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The letter was sent by J.G. Consultancy Ltd on 9 June and in his response on 10 June, Mr Micallef said he had been the Marsa Football Club president and had guaranteed the club’s debt.

Mr Micallef said that the debt was of Lm36,000 and he had already paid Lm15,000 of this amount, in the club’s name. The debt was in fact accumulated when a certain Joseph Gauci was president of the club, Mr Micallef said.

Mr Micallef said the company called on him to pay the amount due without first doing so through the Marsa Football Club. He demanded that the company stop making allegations against him.

The inhibitory injunction requested by Mr Micallef to stop the publication of the allegations in the media was refused by the court.
