In a statement, the police said the 30-year-old was walking in St Paul’s Bay when he was involved in a fight with a group of people. He was hit with a sharp and pointed instrument in his left arm. His injuries were described as slight.
On his insistence, the man was transferred to a private hospital where he was operated on for the injuries he sustained.
Qawra district police are investigating.
