The UHM issued a statement yesterday morning condemning the Maltapost management for trying to “cover up” the problem.
It also contested the fact that a number of employees from the hubs had been sent on forced leave because their work place was infested with fleas.
During the meeting, which started at noon, the management accepted that the forced leave given to employees working at the hubs will not be detracted from their annual leave entitlement and will instead be absorbed by the company.
Furthermore, the management gave its assurance that it will be implementing preventive fumigation measures to control the present situation to avoid similar incidents in the future.
