Malcolm Brian Mercieca, 19, from Kalkara, admitted trying to steal a Tata Indica, damaging property and breaching the terms of a probation order.

Gilbert Degabriele, 20, from Fgura, admitted being Mercieca’s accomplice.

Mercieca was given a two-year prison sentence suspended for four and a Lm300 fine for breaching the terms of probation. Degabriele was sentenced to three years’ probation.

The court was presided over by magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima. Inspector Claudine Vella prosecuted while Dr Jose’ Herrera appeared for Mercieca and Dr Roberto Montalto appeared for Degabriele.
