Faical Ben Hanza, 31, who resides in Valletta, denied being in possession of heroin in February and the four previous months.
The accused was denied bail and was remanded in custody.
Inspectors Josric Mifsud, Ramon Mercieca and Alexander Grech prosecuted.
Dr Vince Galea appeared for the accused.
