For the same period, this group showed a 10.1 per cent increase in its Employment Index, from 107.8 in April 2003 to 118.7 this April.

Its Wages and Salaries Index rose by 39.1 per cent to 148.8 from 107 in April 2003.

The Turnover Index of the Consumer Durable Goods group decreased by 39.6 per cent in April when compared to the same month last year. For the same period, this sector registered a drop of 50.1 per cent in the Employment Index and a drop of 22.4 per cent in the Wages and Salaries Index, from 113.6 in April 2003 to 88.1 this April.

The Consumer Non-Durable Goods group registered an increase of 9.6 per cent in the Turnover Index, from April 2003 to this April. Its Employment Index decreased from 98.2 in April 2003 to 94.2 this April, a fall of 4.1 per cent. In the same period, this group’s Wages and Salaries Index increased by 3.8 per cent, from 100.8 to 104.6.

During April, the Turnover Index of the Energy Goods group decreased by 9.1 per cent over April last year. The group’s Employment Index increased by 17.2 per cent from April 2003.

However, the Wages and Salaries Index decreased by 5.9 per cent, from 117 in 2003 to 110.2 this year.

The Intermediate Goods group Turnover Index fell by 3.9 per cent in April over April 2003.

The Employment Index registered a drop of 6.5 per cent, from 102.4 in April 2003 to 95.7 in April.

The Wages and Salaries Index decreased to 99.9 in April from 107.9 in April 2003, a fall of 7.4 per cent.

The Total Industry Turnover Index decreased by 6.8 per cent from 103.8 to 96.8. The Total Industry’s Employment Index decreased from 105 in 2003 to 102.4, a fall of 2.5 per cent. The Wages and Salaries Index registered an increase of 4.9 per cent from 2003 to 2004.
