Malta Independent Wednesday, 23 June 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Dr Gonzi said Maltese engineers played an important role in Malta’s society. “And it is important to keep up the standards of engineering we have established in this country. As a minister I found your experience valuable and many engineers have served on various boards according to their specialised field,” said Dr Gonzi.

Chamber president Alex Tranter said the institution had been in existence for 26 years. “We have about 700 members and our aim is to promote the profession of engineering in the widest possible sense. It is a very dynamic profession and we have to be equally dynamic in adapting and adjusting to the latest developments and changes,” concluded Mr Tranter.

The purpose of the meeting was for Dr Gonzi and the chamber to exchange ideas and to help establish a better working relationship and understanding.
