Jean Claude Cassar, 32, pleaded guilty to stealing a cigarette vending machine containing Lm2,180 worth of cash and cigarettes from an establishment in St Paul’s Bay on 15 March.
He also admitted damaging the machine. The court, presided over by magistrate Lawrence Quintano, sentenced the accused to 10 month’s imprisonment. Police inspector Joseph Mercieca prosecuted.
