Moviment Graffitti said an application to build sheltered housing at Wied tal-Maghluq has been submitted to MEPA. The proposed development concerns a field which is outside the development zone. Even though this area is not a green area, the same cannot be said of the other fields in the area, which are not only considered as green areas but are also marked as natural reserves.

The proposed development can lead to the destruction of the valley, especially if it leads to further development over the nearby fields.

Wied tal-Maghluq is part of a natural reserve due to the fact that certain species of animals and plants are endemic to this area, the group said.

Moviment Graffitti therefore urges MEPA to refuse the application. On the other hand, it fully supports policies which protect the valley from unsustainable development.
